[English]
Pharmacies are essential components of public healthcare systems, playing an important role in the provision and distribution of pharmaceutical services and in promoting community health. Although numerous studies have examined the spatial distribution of healthcare services, investigating both the point-based distribution pattern and spatial concentration of pharmacies at the urban scale can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the spatial organization of pharmaceutical services. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the spatial distribution pattern of pharmacies in Ardabil City using spatial and statistical analysis techniques within a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment. The study is applied in terms of purpose and quantitative in terms of approach. The required data consisted of the geographic locations of pharmacies in Ardabil City, obtained from official records of Ardabil University of Medical Sciences and the OpenStreetMap (OSM) database, and subsequently processed in a GIS environment. Quadrat analysis and the Poisson distribution test were employed to examine the spatial distribution pattern. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test and variance-to-mean ratio were also used to assess the statistical significance of the observed pattern. In addition, the Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN) index, Hot Spot Analysis, and Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) were applied to identify spatial patterns of concentration and dispersion. The findings indicate that the spatial distribution of pharmacies in Ardabil City follows a clustered pattern, with the highest concentration occurring in the central part of the city and in proximity to major healthcare facilities, particularly around Imam Khomeini Hospital and Sarcheshmeh Square. The results further demonstrate considerable spatial concentration, with central areas characterized by higher pharmacy density, whereas lower densities are observed in parts of the peripheral areas and newly developed settlements. These spatial inequalities indicate an uneven distribution of pharmaceutical services across the city.
