Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the development and planning in Tabriz metropolis, emphasizing the destination personality and brand. This research is applied and practical in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of nature and method. The statistical population of the study was tourists entering the Tabriz metropolis, and the sample size of the study was 200 people randomly selected.Results:The results showed that from the point of view of the people studied, the challenges of geographical location far from Tabriz (lack of central location) and lack of proximity to other cities and central provinces of Iran with an average of 3.65, seasonality of travel to Tabriz with an average of 4 and challenges of communication with the community The host (citizens of Tabriz) with an average of 3.25, among the basic and important challenges of tourism development and not forming the personality of the destination, Tabriz is prominent. Based on the findings of the research, the city of Tabriz has advantages for tourism such as a clean city, attractive architecture and history of the city of Tabriz, high security, rich culture and literature, diversity of tourism, and despite the existence of these capabilities and potential capacities, From the point of view of tourists, the city of Tabriz has weak points in order to become a tourist destination.
