Abstract:

Today, hope for the future is regarded as one of the key indicators of a society’s level of development. Hope, as a psychological and social variable, influences many aspects of individual and collective life. It can be considered the driving force behind citizens’ well-being, vitality, and motivation to strive for a better life. In a city where one-fourth of the population lives in marginalized areas, addressing the level of hope among these residents is not only important but essential. Studying this variable can play a significant role in informing social policy and urban development strategies, especially in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

The present study aims to investigate the level of hope for the future among the marginalized residents of the northern districts of Tabriz. The statistical population included all marginalized residents of these districts, estimated at about 61,000 people. Based on Cochran’s formula, a sample of 398 individuals was selected using a multi-stage cluster sampling method. Data were analyzed using SPSS software.

The results of the regression analysis indicated that hope for the future is significantly influenced by the variables of security and religiosity, which together explain 16% of the variance in the dependent variable.
