Abstract

In all historical periods, the house or residence has always had a special value. This research aims to examine the layout of spaces in traditional Iranian houses with regard to the existing climates and also identifying their differences and similarities. To achieve this goal, the methodology section utilizes the technique of spatial configuration.

The method used in this research is a combination of interpretive-historical methods with content analysis techniques and logical reasoning. Utilizing library studies, historical studies have been conducted, and to analyze and examine the spatial structure of case study samples, the "Space Syntax" software, Depth Map software, and A graph software, as well as the analysis of justification graphs, have been employed. The theory of Space Syntax refers to the examination of the relationship of each space with adjacent spaces, which assesses the quality of the relationships between spaces.

The residential units in the present study have been selected among the remaining indigenous dwellings in the eight climatic regions.

The results of the studies indicate that the Azarbani House in Rasht has the highest average overall depth, while the Yaghmaei House in Shahroud has the lowest. Additionally, the historical Sharif House in Bandar Abbas and the Yaghmaei House in Shahroud have the highest values of selectivity, connectivity, and integration. The findings suggest that the Yaghmaei House in Shahroud has achieved more acceptable indicators in spatial arrangement compared to other houses in different climates. Considering the semi-moderate climate of this region, it can be stated that traditional houses in this climate create a favorable relationship between the user and the architectural form.
